We're situated at the corner of Springfield Ave and New England Ave in Summit NJ, diagonally across the street from the Grand Summit Hotel.  (Scroll down this page for driving directions and parking instructions.)

Springfield Ave is the main shopping street of Summit, and we're one block West of the shopping district. (Springfield Ave continues West to become the "main street" of New Providence and Berkeley Heights.) The main entrance to the church complex, both for the Church and resident organizations, is around the corner on New England Ave, across a small patio and through a pair of glass doors.

TRAINS:   You can reach Summit by train on New Jersey Transit from New York City's Penn Station (34th St and 7th Ave). Choose "New York Penn Station" and "Summit" as departing and destination stations, and select Weekday, Saturday or Sunday. On that site you can also obtain itineraries to Summit from other cities, including direct service from certain NJ towns such as Newark, Millburn, Short Hills, Chatham, Madison, Morristown, New Providence, and Berkeley Heights.

If you take the train to Summit you can walk to Christ Church from the train station in 10-12 minutes (it's 1/2 mile) -- but you need walking directions!

  1. When you get off the train in Summit, walk to the center of the platform, and ascend a flight of stairs or elevator to a small concourse.
  2. There's an exit at each end of the concourse. Walk out through the exit marked "East Broad Street".
  3. Cross the service road in front, and walk a short block straight ahead.
  4. Turn right onto Broad Street.
  5. Walk four blocks to a 7-Eleven store and traffic light, and bear right onto Morris Ave.
  6. Walk one block to another traffic light and turn left onto Springfield Ave.
  7. Walk one more block to the traffic light at New England Ave. Christ Church is the red sandstone church on the near-right-hand corner.
  8. The main entrance is around the corner, up 5 steps, across a small patio, and through a pair of glass doors.

Parking

Christ Church is situated on the corner of Springfield Ave (which is Summit's main business street) and New England Ave (a side street lined with condos).

We have a small parking lot off of New England Ave (behind our complex) which holds perhaps 20 cars. During daytime on weekdays that lot and the entrance from it are reserved for the Cornerstone Preschool use, including parent drop-offs and pick-ups.

We also have a short semicircular driveway in front of our patio & main entrance on New England Ave which has two handicapped parking spots. Beyond that, we rely on curbside parking, which is allowed on both streets. Usually there are only a handful of free spots on Springfield Ave, so for services & large events, most people park along New England Ave. The condos on both sides of New England Ave have their own parking, so there are always plenty of spaces available on the street – but you may have to walk a few paces, so come early.

(Note: A short driveway behind the church off Springfield Ave has two parking spots, but they are reserved for church staff.)
