Nicaragua Container Shipment - Sat. Oct 2, 2010

Saturday, Oct.2: is the collection day for the next PeaceWorks container shipment to Nicaragua is Saturday, Oct.2: church parking lot, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. We're looking forward to your donations of gently-used items to help our grassroots partner organ-izations in Nicaragua. Dan Ocone, who was on last January's PeaceWorks trip to Nicaragua, points out that these donations are gifts to people you may someday meet. Think of each item as a present, and verify it is clean & in working condition. Please bring donations to the parking lot in unsealed cardboard boxes. To each box, tape a removable paper that briefly states the contents. This will save everyone a lot of sorting time. Thank you!!!!!

Special requests - “Just In Case You Might Have This” are:

  • Gas stove; Electric cake mixer
  • Water cooler: Poland Springs type, w/ hot & cold buttons
  • Attractive set of lightweight, porch-type furniture, e.g. rattan frame with foam cushions (please call 908-522- 1072 if you have this)
  • Freestanding cabinet to store pots & pans
  • Photocopy machine;
  • Laptop computer
  • Sound system (microphone, amplifiers, cables)
  • Printer cartridges: Samsung ML-2010 mono laser printer and/or Lexmark X2350

Special request - in the One Chance In a Million category:

  • Motorbike! (to make agricultural training visits )

Standing requests from Inhijambia (street children) and Axayacatl, in the Always Gratefully Accepted category, are:

  • Warm-weather clothing/shoes for ages baby to adult
  • Raincoats, rain ponchos, rain boots
  • Sports equipment and uniforms/shoes: baseball, soccer, volleyball
  • Baby cribs, dolls, toys; Bicycles in good condition, with thick tires. (They will be ridden on dirt roads.)
  • Gardening equipment: hoe, pick, shovel, rake, trowel, pruner, hose, bucket, wheelbarrow
  • Crutches, walkers, wheelchairs
  • Pots, pans, kitchen utensils; Gently used bed linens, pillows, towels; sewing machine, fabric, thread, notions
  • School supplies: pencils, pens, paper, notebooks, book bags
  • Office equip.: desk & chair, bookshelves, file cabinet
  • Hygiene supplies: Toothbrushes, sanitary napkins, disposable diapers any size

On collection day, please bring $5 per donated box to help PeaceWorks with shipping costs. If you can lend us your sorting and packing skills for an hour or two, please join us in the church parking lot that morning. Preteens and teenagers who need community service hours are most welcome.
