Dr. Michael J.
Christensen, Ph.D., is the director of the Doctor of Ministry Program at Drew
University where he also teaches religion and spirituality. He is on the board of directors of the Henri
Nouwen Society and lectures widely on the topics related to Henri's life and
works. He is the author of six books,
including: City Streets, City People, The Samaritan's Imperative,
Children of Chernobyl, The World After Chernobyl, Equipping the Saints, and
editor (with Rebecca Laird) of The Heart of Henri Nouwen.

Dr. Michael J. Christensen, Ph.D., is Director of the Doctor
of Ministry at Drew Theological School and Affiliate Associate Professor of
Spirituality and Religious Studies in the college and graduate schools of Drew
University.
Dr. Christensen is author of six books, including:

The Samaritan's Imperative: Compassionate Ministry to
People Living With AIDS
Children of Chernobyl: Raising Hope from the Ashes
Equipping the Saints: Mobilizing Laity for Ministry
He is associate editor of the Routledge Encyclopedia of
Millennialism and Millennial Movements, co-editor (with Rebecca Laird) of The
Heart of Henri Nouwen, and contributor to the Encyclopedia of Community and
the Encyclopedia of Homelessness.
His B.A. in Literature and Psychology is from Point Loma
Nazarene University, his M.A. in Religion from Yale Divinity School, and his
Ph.D. in Theological and Religious Studies is from Drew University. Currently,
his research interests include: apocalyptic eschatology, Russian religious
philosophy, comparative spirituality and practical theology.
He is available to lead
seminars, retreats, and lectures based on his books and courses at Drew
University.
